SIMION
Exercises: These exercises will allow you to investigate the
properties of various mass analyzers. Discover for yourself the
factors that control mass dispersion and resolution in magnetic
sectors (including fringing magnetic field), explore the operation of
electrostatic energy filters including a novel retarding field energy
filter . Included are SIMION models of a 90 degree sector instrument,
and a triple sector instrument, all courtesy of Tony Appelhans of the
Idaho National Laboratory.
