HIPIRMS: Lecture 4: Ion Collection/Detection, including New Multichannel Detectors

In this presentation, various methods of ion detection are presented, including Faraday cups, discrete and continuous dynode multipliers and Daly detectors. Methods of pulse and current measurements are also describe, including a description of current to voltage convertors.
You can download the lecture as either a
PDF or
PowerPoint.
A more detailed description of the electronics involved in ion detection and current to voltage convertors are presented. In a separate presentation, Gary Hieftje provides a description of a new class of multichannel detectors, involving the use of a "Faraday strip" detector. See ADAMS (PDF or PowerPoint).
